Introduce yourself
My name is Frobisher Lwanga. I am an actor and cinematographer.
What car do you drive?
I drive a BMW 3 series.

How long have you been driving it?
For about three years now.

What do you like about this car?
Its reliability and safety on the road. Many people say BMWs are guzzlers and that they are hard to maintain, but on the contrary, they are not.

How much do you spend on fuel?
If I put Shs20,000, I will drive for two days.

How much do you spend on servicing your car?
You know the beauty about the German car is that you service them once a year, so I spend Shs200,000 per year.

Have you ever had a fight with a mechanic?
No, because I only use one.

What do you like about him?
He is honest. I mean many mechanics you will go to will not know what to fix but this particular one specialises only in BMWs.

What was your first car?
A Toyota Corsa, then I got a BMW 1982 series which I drove for about three years then graduated to this one.

What has been the price range of all the cars you have driven?
I cannot really tell the price because the first car was my mother’s. When she was leaving, she left it with me, so I took up the responsibility. My father gave me the second car and then I exchanged with my father for this one.

So would we be right in saying you got your love for German cars from your father?
Exorbitantly

How do you compare a BMW to a Toyota?
German cars are now computerised and the aesthetics that a BMW has are cooler. Anyway at the end of the day it is just about a person’s tastes and preferences.

Do you share your car?
Not any more
Why not?
It is bad to share because everyone has different driving styles.

Tell us about your experience
When the borrower finally returned the car, there was no fuel. The second time it was returned with a mechanical fault.

Which is your dream car?
A BMW X3

What do you like about it?
It is a 4x4, which is well built for Ugandan roads, so we are talking reliability, safety, handling and economy.

How do you compare it with your current car?
My car is a 1993 model and the very good X3 stems from the 2010 model. There is a big difference when it comes to mechanical and wiring.

Where is the furthest you have driven your car?
Jinja
