What you need to know:

Nince Henry is a local musician. He talked to Edgar R. Batte about his love for cars and specifically Mercedes Benz.

What car do you drive?

I drive a Mercedes Benz. It has three major aspects far ahead of any other car in the world. It is stable, durable, safe and is the most respected brand.

What model is it?
It is a C200 model 1999.

What is its engine size?
It is 2000cc
Do you know how to fix anything on your car?
Yes I can change the tyres.

What size are your car tyres?
Ha ha ha, they are size 15.

What do you normally carry in your car boot?
Nothing for sure. I rarely put things in the trunk.

Have you ever run out of fuel?
Yes, on Christmas.

What had happened and what did you do?
We used it to run around on shows. We had seven shows and the pressure was really too much so we forgot to refuel. On the way to my last show we ran out of fuel in the middle of the road.

What do you wish you could change on your car?
Man, it’s a perfect car. I do not wish to change anything on it.

Is your car insured?
Yes, it is insured.

What is its fuel consumption like?
I don’t normally care about fuel, but I think it consumes one litre every two kilometres. These things are so technical but I think I am right.

When did you buy it?
Two years ago after I sold off my other Mercedes Benz.
When and where do you drive it from?
In and around Kampala.

How much did you buy it?
I bought it at Shs21m.

What do you like about its interior?
It has a perfect audio sound and enough airbags for safety. Plus, it has comfortable seats.

What is your comment on Ugandan drivers?
They are selfish and impatient.

What is your worst habit as a driver?
Hooting out of anger.

What was the last offense you committed?
I drove without headlamps and I was stopped by a police constable. I tried to apologise ,but he did not want to listen so I asked him a question that shut him up…’When did you turn into a traffic officer?’

What is the worst experience you have had driving on our road?
A taxi knocked me from behind. I got so annoyed for three days yet my car did not even get a scratch.

What is your dream car?
It is a Mercedes Benz G63. It is the best car on earth to me.

What was your first car?
It was a Toyota crown.

When did you learn how to drive?
I was 14 when I learnt how to drive. At home, there were cars so it was easy for me to learn.

Are you a speed merchant?
No, not at all. I hate speed.

How far have you driven it?
I drove my first Benz when I was going to Nakasongola to perform at the Women’s Day national celebrations and I was running out of time, so I drove at 140km/hour. That was fast in a Benz.
