A gift from my dad that I cannot sell car.

What the car looks like from the rear. The owner has kept the original number plate intact unlike some motorsits who have changed theirs.

What car do you drive?
I drive a Toyota Corolla-DX 1.5 that was manufactured in 1980.
When did you buy this car?
It was my father’s car that I inherited after his death, it was like a gift. However, this was a car that cost him a lot of money that time (Shs10m in 1989) and he surely treasured it so much that is why I also treasure it and I give it the best respect and service that it deserves.

How is the fuel consumption?
The fuel consumption is the best with the 1.5cc. Its fuel tank capacity is about 40 litres and I always make sure that it is full or in the half way for better maintenance.

Apart from the fuel consumption, what else do like about it?
It is a manual car and very fast on the road which is good for me as a person who likes speed. Everything on this car is special and that is why I like it from the interior to the outside. The engine (3T) is still in good shape, the air condition still works and surely it is comfortable to me and I feel special while driving it.

Have you ever had any other car beside that?
I drove a Pajero while at university among others. I drive the DX three days in a week and other days, I drive a Toyota Noah that I bought two years back. I however, use it most of the time because it is a family car.

For how long have you driven this car?
It is now seven years since it was handed over to me. I started driving it two years after my father’s death and for that period, the car parked in our garage but without any mechanical problem. I had to do a little servicing before putting it on the road.

How do you maintain it?
I do not share this car with any one apart from my mechanic, so the maintenance is not a problem because I basically drive it alone.
However, all its original spare parts are very expensive and hard to find on our local market, otherwise there is no problem with maintenance and servicing.

Is it still in good condition, if yes, how have you managed to keep it in its good condition?
Yes, this car is 100 percent in a good condition and all the traffic officers know it that is why they do not even stop me on the road. I like its originality that is why I keep the number at the 191 UCB. I do not give out my vehicle because it keeps my father’s memories. It is special to me as my wife and my daughter are.

What is your dream car and why?
I like all the four wheel drive cars but I think a Range Rover Sport like the one Queen Elizabeth used for Chogm would do better for me because of its stability on the road and comfort.
