What you need to know:

Martha Wolija is a radio traffic controller at Dembe and Kfm radio stations. She is driving her fourth car, a Toyota Harrier. She talked to Roland D Nasasira about her car.

Which car do you drive?
I drive a Toyota Harrier.

Where did you buy it and at how much?
I bought it from Trust Dealers at Shs27m.

How do you maintain your car?
I service it regularly.

When do you drive it?
I drive it every day from home to work and from work to home, and sometimes over the weekend.

Have you received offers from people who have wanted to buy it?
Not really.

Where do you get its spare parts?
I get them from City Oil Bombo Road.

Where do you service it and how often?
I service it from Total Bukoto or City Oil Bombo road, after every three to four months.

Where do you get the inspiration to drive this type of car?
It’s a high car that suits the bad conditions of Ugandan roads. It also has very comfortable seats.

Do you share it with friends or family members?
Most of the times, I drive it alone; and I rarely share it with friends or family members.

What is its engine size?
It’s 2.2cc

How long have you been with it?
I have had it for four months.

What is its speed limit?
It’s 180km/hour

What do you like about it?
It has a component of picking up speed very fast when I step on the accelerator compared to the previous cars that I have driven.

What don’t you like about it?
Its spare parts are quite expensive. It’s also looked out for most by thieves. I only park in places where I am assured of security, which sometimes can become inconveniencing.

What was your first car?
My first car was a Toyota Corsa, the second was a Toyota Caldina and the third was a Toyota Noah. Then the Harrier which is my fourth.

How much do you spend on fuel in a day or week?
I refuel it on a weekly basis. In a week, I use between Shs120,000 to Shs140,000.

What is the farthest you have driven with it?
For now, the farthest I have gone with it is Jinja.

What is the worst moment that has ever happened to you on the road?
Sometime back in 2011, I was driving deep in Kyenjojo District and I got a flat tyre. Because I had a car with sport rimes, the spanner I had carried couldn’t open its nuts. The nearest I had to go was Mubende to get a mechanic to do it for me.

What characteristic does it have that other cars you have driven don’t?
It has features of both an automatic and manual car but I mainly use the automatic feature.

What is your dream car?
My dream car is a BMW X6.
