My wheels : Twaha Sonko, businessman

Hajj Twaha Sonko is a managing director at ALPS Groups Limited in Lweza.

What car are you currently driving?
I am driving a Mercedes Benz M-class AMG, model 2004. It is about a year since I bought this car in February 2012.

How is this car different from others?
It is a rare model, thus making it unique. It is very comfortable and easy to maintain.
This kind of car has very low fuel consumption as compared to other types. I normally fuel once a week with V-power at Shs400,000. It has a 3200cc engine. It is also durable.

Have you had any other car before this?
I have been a fan of Mercedes Benz cars ever since I sold off my very first car, a Toyota Ceres. I bought the Ceres in 2001 at Shs15m but after selling it to a friend in 2005, I went for a Mercedes Benz E190 that I drove for two years, then bought a C200.
Again after two years, I sold it , topped up and acquired a C220 that I also had for two years before buying the M-class that I am currently driving. I also have other cars like a Toyota Noah and a Toyota Surf.

How much did it cost?
It cost US$60,000 (about
Shs162m).

Which car would you wish to drive outside the Mercedes Benz class?
Apart from going for the latest model I will never dream of driving any other type of car. I don’t fancy any car other apart from Mercedes Benz.

How have you managed to maintain it for this period?
I make sure that I visit the garage every week for servicing. It is with service that one can maintain the car for long.
