Hi, Paul, I want choose between the 2010 Audi-Q5 or Volvo XC60 or VW Tiguan models. I need your advice in terms of reliability, robustness and availability of spares for these cars, based on your technical knowledge and experience. Paul

Hello Paul, the 2010 Audi Q5, Volkswagen Tiguan and Volvo XC60 are European cross over SUVs (not as big as their sibbling SUVs) with attractive styling inside out. The trio come with modern as well as practical design and style cues. The Audi Q5 exudes a quality feel of cabin and controls while the Volvo spots a well-trimmed interior.

The Tiguan has a roomier passenger cabin while Volvo has the biggest load space in cubic capacity (Volvo: 67.4; Audi 57.3; VW 56.1) The build quality is good and robust enough to survive on most of our suburban roads, if you drive carefully. The Audi Q5’s 3.2 litre V6 engine accelerates promptly with the exciting 270 horse power that cannot be matched by the 235 horse power from the spirited Volvo XC60’s 3.2 litre line 6 engine. Surprisingly the Volkswagen Tiguan’s 2.0 litre line 4 engine gives you a more modest but lively 200 horse power thanks to its turbo charged power plant.

The VW Tiguan’s Fsi engine is gentle on your fuel wallet with the best highway fuel economy statistics KM/Litre (Tiguan: 26; Audi Q5: 23; Volvo:22). Car handling of the Audi and VW is not as inspiring as that of the Volvo. After sales support is from small independent parts dealers. There are no appointed dealers for these three cars but there are a few independent parts sellers. The VW Touaran will be easier and cheaper to maintain and drive.
