Squeaking brakes are an indication of a deeper problem

Brakes are a very important facet of a car. Thus they demand more attention than any component of the car because they stand between the drivers’ or the passengers’ life and death.
Brakes not only demand regular maintenance but much caution, especially if they experience anything alien.
One such alien component is a squeaking sound, which is an indication of the need to replace brake pads.
Squeaking brakes are a nagging experience for any driver and for this case they made me almost go separate ways with my mechanic.
After the mechanic had assured me that I needed to replace my pads, I painfully paid to save myself.
However, after he had replaced the pads, as he claimed, I was treated to the same sound, which sort of drove me nuts.
Indeed, he had replaced the pads but he had not applied the anti-squeak lube that is usually put at the back end of the pads.
As I was advised, I applied the lube and the brakes stopped squeaking for like a month before resuming.
Confused, I sought more advice from a specialised mechanic who told me that squeaking brakes might be an indication that I needed to inspect or replace my entire brake system.
Brakes are sensitive to a number of things such as moisture, which makes them rust.
The rust forms a grinding noise that results from a heated glaze pad thus giving off a squeak noise, which if ignored might turn out costly.
Therefore, maintaining your brake system not only keep you safe but also saves you from incurring costly repairs.
It is advisable that you check your brakes every six months to avoid unpleasant surprises. This will help you to familiarise yourself with your car as well as knowing how soon you might need to replace some parts.
If you suspect that your brakes have a problem, it is recommend that you seek a professional mechanic to conduct a thorough inspection.
