What you need to know:

With safety as a priority but enhanced with innovation and technology to give a better driving experience, Nissan presents the Sentra 2015 model. Paul Kaganzi had a look and these are his impressions of the car.

Now in its seventh generation since its first launch as Sunny 1982, the 2015 Sentra has come a long way and stands tall as Nissan’s value proposition to the subcompact car segment.
Evolving over three decades to Nissan Sentra with intelligent design, superior driving experience, luxurious comfort, ample space, and advanced safety features.
This model became available in Sub-Saharan Africa markets in June 2015 already, but has only reached Uganda in January 2016.
The new model is designed for the purpose-driven individual: efficient and responsive with reliable engineering and exhilarated driving experience.
In Uganda, Ms Florence Makada, the managing director of Nissan’s 24-year-old dealership Motorcare Uganda, could not hide the sparkle in her eyes as she unveiled the car on April 8.

Unveiling
Like the newly unveiled Nissan Sentra, Ms Makada is Uganda’s first female chief executive of an established motor dealership and in the Motorcare group.
In a keynote address, she said: “The Nissan tagline: Innovation that excites is engraved in our daily offer. We are driven by desire to excite people and push at boundaries of what is possible. Today, we once again make driving experiences rewarding for everyone by introducing the Nissan Sentra”
The 2015 Nissan Sentra is a classic sedan that offers low fuel consumption and minimal maintenance.
Surprisingly well priced, it is an epitome of advanced Nissan technology and smart engineering. It is ultra-modern and sleek, projecting sophistication, capability, low fuel economy and exactly the ‘value for money’ upward-bound buyers are looking for.

Design
The new range adopted Nissan’s bold signature trapezoid-shaped grille, 15-inch alloy wheels, large wrap-around headlights with light-emitting diode (LED) accents, and LED taillights complete a stylish appearance.
With a redefined elegant sculpted design, the Sentra lowers co-efficient of drag with smooth air flow and a powerful feel that foster trust and confidence, resulting in a more quiet, enjoyable and pleasurable driving experience.
The interior finishes have a high quality feel and prevent all noise, vibration and harshness from entering the cabin with soft textures and rich wood-tone trim throughout the cabin.
The dashboard was inspired by a bird’s wing, with the instrument panel curving out towards the doors, creating a bright, airy interior with a flowing feel.

Driving experience
But for most drivers, the actual gratification is always in the driving experience. The Nissan Sentra has extraordinary handling capabilities with dynamic gear and engine performance.
Its compact and lightweight design allows for responsive powerful acceleration and great fuel consumption. The models have a wider gear ratio and low friction, ensuring smoother conversions and less shift shock.

Space
The 60/40 split fold-down rear seat is large enough to hold four golf bags, or a bicycle. The boot on its own, has 510 litres (15.1 cubic feet) cargo space, which is more than most mid-size sedans.

Models and performance
It has left and right hand drive options, comes in a manual transmission version, or an automatic Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) equipped option. Both manual and CVT are four-door C-segment sedans with either a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder engine that delivers 85kW of power and 154Nm torque; or a 1.8 litre model delivering 96kW of power and 174Nm of torque.

Safety
In the commitment to Real World Safety, Nissan pursues innovation as part of its Safety Shield concept.
Based on the idea that cars should help protect driver and passengers, avoiding danger and injury in a wide range of circumstances, Nissan engineered advanced pro-active safety technologies.
The Sentra heralds a holistic approach to safety with enhanced technologies.
These including alerting the driver when risk appears with automatic counter-measures, helping the driver to easily avoid it, or recover from dangerous conditions quickly.
In cases, where a collision cannot be avoided, the additional technology helps reduce injuries and limit the damage.
There are elements such as: Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-Force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), as well as three-point ELR seatbelts for all passengers. This aspect os complemented by dual front, side and curtain airbags.
The aim of LED accent halogen headlights is for enhanced visibility at night and in poor conditions.

Innovation that excites
The new Nissan Sentra is not just a car, but rather an extension of future dreams.
For this reason, Nissan is committed to provide continued motoring pleasure supported by comprehensive factory warrantees, and no-hassle attitudes in honouring obligations.
Nissan vehicles are further backed by all regional dealers’ commitment to courteous service and customer satisfaction.
