When it comes to variety, cars have plenty of accessories. They come in so many designs with enhanced safety features. Today we shall look at the tyre area to see how you can pamper them to add a little value to your car.

A few years ago sport rims had been exclusive to sports cars but they have become a universal feature for even ordinary cars. They add a sporty and over the edge look to a car because of their charming designs. Most cars such as the VW Golf GTI, Subaru and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, among others come fitted with sport rims but most others are just fitted. On the other hand there are conventional wheel caps that are fitted and as when the owner feels they need them. Unlike the sport rims, the wheel caps are just an addition and have no effect on the car’s movement. They can fall off if not well fastened with no or less effect.

Brand loyalty
Wheel caps and sport rims are made in a way that they can fit on different types of cars within a particular category. However, brand loyalty is a serious consideration as there are unwritten rules every car owner must appreciate.

Driving with none
Whereas rims are a fixed facet of the car, wheel caps are not and can never stop a car from moving. Therefore, it is not a rule that a car must have either of the two. Otherwise you can drive sufficiently and conveniently without any of the two.
Cost
There are hundreds of sport rim finishes such as chrome. Most of these are available at spare parts shops, especially tyre centres.
According to Patricia Mukuze, a dealer in car rims on Ggaba Road, sport rims come in different sizes and costs defer depending on country of origin, spokes and size.
“The range is between Shs800,000 and Shs1m while wheel caps cost between Shs40,000 and Shs50,000,” she says.
