Hi Paul,
I am looking at selling my Toyota Kluger GS45 2012 with 4,0000km to buy the new model of Toyota Kluger introduced in 2014. Are there any major changes on the new model or just cosmetic changes?
What is your view on the new Subaru WRX STI 2014 model in terms of value for money or it’s just very expensive because of our lazy tax system?
Birungi

Hello Birungi, there are cosmetic as well as practical differences between the 2014 and 2012 Toyota Kluger (Highlander). The 2014 Kluger comes with a more attractive interior knitted with better quality materials. The 2014 Kluger looks bolder and makes its presence felt with the new trailing headlights and bigger front grille. The interior outlay is more spacious with better head and legroom. The seven seats are now permanent and the first and second row more comfortable. You have clever gadgets in the 2014 Kluger such as a larger rear view camera screen, wander alert (lane change assist), radar cruise control to keep distance between you and the car ahead, digital display on the windscreen to remind you that you are over speeding, passenger and driver sun visors extend downwards when swung alongside windows. On the performance front, the 2014 Kluger comes with a more refined and powerful V6 engine which provides better fuel economy and fewer emissions compared to the 2012 version. There is improved response from the more secure steering. On demand All wheel Drive (AWD) system automatically sends drive to rear wheels when it detects loss of traction, a vast improvement from the permanent AWD in the 2012 model. However, the 2014 model is really expensive.
The 2014 Subaru WRX STI comes with a higher price tag even before its processed through the tax system. You will be paying for the new look, new LED lighting, lower bonnet air scoop design which improves road visibility, greater power, suspension and chassis upgrades to give it better dynamics and performance drive ability.

Hi Paul,
My Toyota Regius 1997 experiences coolant loss. Mechanics have resurfaced the cylinder head twice but the problem persists.

Hello, you need to ask the mechanics to inspect and verify the condition of your cylinder head gasket, especially after overheating and removal of the cylinder head twice.
The cylinder head gasket maintains the seal around the combustion chamber at peak operating temperature and pressure and ensures that different engine chemicals, oil and coolant are kept in the right passages.
The design and materials used to make your cylinder head gasket must have the thermal and chemical capacity to withstand the byproducts of combustion, various chemicals, hot oil and coolant. If your head gaskets fail or are of an inferior quality, you will continue to experience coolant loss from your engine.
On the other hand, the decision to skim or resurface your cylinder head after it has been warped by an overheating episode should be made after careful consideration of the extent of damage seen such as cracking or uneven warping. Skimming or resurfacing a cylinder head which is damaged beyond repair will allow continued loss or mixture of fluids and gases as the head gasket fails to serve its purpose. I suggest you identify an independent professional engine mechanic to measure and verify the condition of the cylinder head too.
