Ankole coffee processors get UTZ certification

Utz Certified, the worldwide certification programme for coffee, has awarded the Utz Kapeh certificate to the Ankole Coffee Processors Ltd,

The Utz certification, now clears way for the company to export of over 3,000 metric tonnes of coffee as premium quality from the farmers.

Utz Kapeh-certified cooperatives, estate farms and producer groups comply with the Utz Certified Kapeh code of conduct.
The Code is an internationally recognised set of criteria for socially and environmentally appropriate coffee growing practices, and efficient farm management.

Ugandan coffee exports rose 10.8 percent by volume in October compared with the same month last year thanks to a new crop coming into production and better husbandry, officials said on Thursday. The Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA) said recently it exported 199,000 60-kg bags in October this year.
