KAMPALA- .Pay television Star Times received a major endorsement as co-organizers of the inaugural China-Africa media summit held in South Africa early recently

In his congratulatory letter, South Africa President Jacob Zuma urged the representatives of the news, TV stations and new media to figure out a win-win solution through a new strategic partnership between the continent and China citing that the two 'belong to a community of shared future, and our friendship and cooperation helps to improve the well-being of the 2.4 billion people.'

"The media, which has witnessed booming exchanges in recent years, provides a channel for exchange and mutual learning between our two sides and a bridge to connect the hearts of our peoples. I hope that the Chinese and African media will take this summit as an opportunity to expand those exchanges, deepen cooperation, and make new and even greater contribution to consolidating and promoting the friendship between our two peoples," Zuma said in the letter.

For Star Times, President Zuma's message like other appraisals from different speakers was well received. The pay TV company strives to ensure African families can afford digital TV of high quality and step into the digital age.

According to their president Pang Xinxing, the price of digital TV in Africa had been quite high; the initial manufacturing price was $200, and the cheapest monthly fee was $40 dollars.

And now with Star Times, the initial manufacturing price of pay-TV has declined drastically to $20 dollars while the cheapest monthly fee is less than $3.

"We entirely connect with what President Zuma said and most aspects of his speech are endorsement for the values we stand for," Star Times Uganda publicist Christine Nagujja said.

"There are wide aspects of media but for us it's important that media owners get an assurance that viewers will watch their programs and channels at the cheapest price," she added.
