MTN appoints new chief

MTN Uganda has appointed Mr Mazen Mroué as its new chief executive officer, replacing Mr Themba Khumalo, who was recently recalled as the group’s chief executive at the telecommunications headquarters in South Africa.

Mr Mroué joins the company from MTN Liberia where he had been serving in the same capacity. According to a press statement Mr Mroue’ has more than 16 years of professional experience in telecommunications and information technology management.

Mr Mroue’ said in the statement that MTN would continue to invest in infrastructure and new technology to enhance its customer value proposition.

Applauding Khumalo
At the farewell ceremony in Kampala, MTN Uganda chairman, Charles Mbire applauded Mr Khumalo for leading a number of successful initiatives during his three years in Uganda, including the launch of Uganda’s biggest 3G network.
