IMF calls attack in its Paris office cowardly act of violence

The International Fund Managing Director Ms. Christine Lagarde has condemned attack in its office in Paris- France, calling it cowardly act of violence.

This is the first time IMF has been attacked in Paris, triggering condemnation across Western Europe and United States of America and security tightening in European Union member states .

In a statement issued from Frankfurt, Germany this afternoon by the IMF External Relation Department, Ms Lagarde said: “I have been informed about the explosion in the IMF's Paris office, which caused injuries to one of our staff. I have been in touch with the office, and my compassion goes to the colleagues there.”

Ms Lagarde added: “I condemn this cowardly act of violence and reaffirm the IMF's resolve to continue our work in line with our mandate. We are working closely with the French authorities to investigate this incident and ensure the safety of our staff.”
