Kampala.

Although most people start their businesses with a drive, vision and a hunger for success, these qualities are simply not enough to ensure that the business grows and flourishes, a prominent businessman has said.

The chief branding officer for Edmark International, Mr Thorn Chee Wah, said successful businesses require the four pillars of success namely: Love, gratitude, abundance and compassion.

Mr Wah was speaking to members of Edmark at Sheraton Kampala Hotel recently during the launch of an inspirational book entitled: The Four Pillars of Success in business by Sam Low, the founder and chairman of Edmark Group of Companies, the manufacturers of premium health food supplements.

He said love changes everything, even resolving company’s internal conflicts, (people should) use love instead of punishment and that in goal planning, strategise your actions with love.

“Instead of mulling over management books, you must dig deep into your emotions and begin to listen intently and you will find that the universal way of success in business is based on love, gratitude, abundance and compassion,” said Mr Wah who represented Mr Low at the function.

“At Edmark International we believe that every woman and man deserves to live life to the fullest with passion and excitement,” he added.

He said businesses also fail because the starters have failed to monitor costs, failing to collect and analyse data, failing to embrace change, failing to listen to customers and failing to plan.
In the book The Four Pillars of Success, Mr Low shares his story and key principles in business and entrepreneurship, and a lot of insight and business information.

Mr Patrick Semambo, the public relations officer, African Multi-level Marketing Association, said doing business is always tough.
“Don’t be a follower. Arm yourself with information and become an industry leader and be proud of your achievements,” he said.
