Dr Robin Kibuka, a senior economist, has been appointed Standard Chartered Bank Uganda board chairman, replacing Prof. James Mulwana who passed away in January this year.

Dr Kibuka has over 20 years of experience at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), working at the executive board of the institution and in other several departments including the African, Human Resources, Fiscal Affairs, Western Hemisphere and Statistics.

He also served as the IMF Resident Representative in Ghana and retired in 2009 as an adviser in the statistics department.

Dr Kibuka, who has extensive international experience with macroeconomic policy, also taught at Harvard and Makerere universities and worked as a research assistant at the Yale Economic Growth Centre.

Dr Kibuka, who holds a PhD in Economics from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Yale University, has authored a number of publications in areas of statistics, macro-management and governance.

He has also consulted in the areas of macroeconomics, development policy, and statistics, most recently with the African Development Bank and the United Nations Development Programme in designing and updating fiscal roadmap.
