URA surpasses half year revenue target

URA Commissioner General, Ms Doris Akol

Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) overall tax collection performance for the last six months of the financial year 2015/2016 is above target.
Releasing the half year results recorded between July and December of the financial year 2015/16, URA commissioner general, Ms Doris Akol, said the Shs47billion surplus registered in the last six months is a much better performance compared to the same period the previous financial year.
“For the period July to December of the financial year 2015/16 our revenue performance of Shs 5.5 trillion shows that our net revenue collections performed above the 100 per cent target,” Ms Akol said in a news conference held earlier in the day at URA headquarters in Nakawa, Kampala.

She continued: “Posting a surplus of shs47billion and revenue growth of 20 per cent gives confidence that we can hit and even surpass our sh11trillion target in the remaining six months of the financial year.”
The good performance is attributed to efficient administrative measures and simplified processes, let alone improved turnaround time. [email protected]
