Campaign agents arrested in Rubanda amid voter bribery claims

Two people have so far been arrested for alleged voter bribery in the ongoing elections in the new districts.

The two are; Mr Arigye Wensi, a resident of Rukoro trading center, Muko Sub County and Ms Keduresi Tukasingura. The two are said to be campaign agents of independent Rubanda District Woman MP candidate, Hilda Kabarungi.

Mr Wensi was arrested for allegedly distributing money to prospective voters. The arrest observed by Citizens' Coalition for Electoral Democracy in Uganda (CCEDU) mission monitoring elections in the district, was executed by Dannie Elly Ecwatu the O/C Muko Police Station. This followed a tip-off by residents of Muko. Mr Wensi has recorded a statement at Muko Police Station. Mr Wensi’s case reference number is 07/29/208/16.

Ms Tukasingura, on the other hand, was arrested by Police for allegedly distributing money to voters in Muko. She is still being interrogated by Police at Muko Police Station in Muko Sub County, Rubanda.
