For Muslims observing their fasting ritual, the most anticipated times of the day are Suhoor (early morning meal before fasting, commonly known as Daaku) and the Iftar (the time of breaking the fast). The Koran says that whoever invites others to break the fast, and whoever takes care of the hungry or needy during Ramadan will receive equal rewards to the fasting person(s) and that is what Sheraton Hotel has been doing for many years.

They have always hosted the middle class people and the cream of this country at a sumptuous Iftar dinner every Ramadan and this year was no exception.

But this year, the hotel came up with a special programme for the month of Ramadan catering for their customers and the general public.

Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday of this month, Sheraton hotel hosts its customers to a special Iftar and Suhoor menu with an Arabian touch. The Suhoor menu served early in the morning has been prepared for guests staying at the hotel.

To launch the programme, Sheraton hotel invited the Muslim journalists to hotel’s Victoria Hall.

A buffet with lots of delicacies were served.

The general hotel manager Mr Chris Pollard was present to welcome and see off his guests at the dinner.

All guests, both Muslim and non-Muslim can have Iftar organised for them on request for groups or companies. The proceeds, according to Pollard, will be given to some 500 children from selected Muslim orphanages.
