Uganda set to host farmers’ congress

As this year’s edition of the National Agricultural show climaxes this weekend, Uganda has been selected to host the fourth Eastern African Federation [EAFF] congress.
While addressing exhibitors on Thursday in Jinja, the President of Uganda Farmers Federation Charles Oganga said President Museveni will be the chief guest at the two-day congress beginning on September 14.
He said during the congress, the delegates will discuss several issues including the private members bill to restore the regional cooperatives.
“The need stronger cooperatives in the region and a viable common market policy have once again come up,” he said.
The EAFF is a network of farmers’ organizations from 22 member countries like Kenya, Uganda Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Eritrea and South Sudan.
