I do not believe in love - Jonathan Ssuubi

Tell us briefly about yourself.
I am a 29-year-old Ugandan actor. I am kind, humble and God fearing.
What is that special thing that people do not know about you?
I am a very humble person although some people think that I am a proud fellow because of the attention I receive from females.

How do you handle attention from females?
I do not believe in love. I do not believe in eros love, I believe in Agape love. Eros love is temporary and the spark burns out with time. It is a struggle to maintain Eros love which made me lose interest in the whole concept.

What would your ideal woman be like?
I have not yet found a person with virtues of patience, humility and generosity.

So you are not in any relationship?
Yes, and it is not that I fear commitments but I hate them.

What does it take to be a good performer?
Talent, humility, willingness to learn and most of all, discipline.off and the feedback was amazing.

What is the most challenging acting role you have ever taken on?
That was when I had to act as a Reverend Father. It was a very demanding role, I had to change all my mannerisms, walking, talking and body language. I managed to pull it off and the feedback was amazing.

What fascinates you about the job?
The pay and the fame. The pay is handsome, enough for me to take care

of all my needs plus some small luxuries which is fulfilling. The fame on the other hand opened up so many doors for me, I am recognised everywhere I go, It makes me feel so special.

What would you do differently if you were not with Ebonies?
Ever since I was a child, I wanted to be a lawyer. I had actually secured entry into law school at Uganda Christian University Mukono, and then I got government sponsorship for music at Makerere University.

You act and sing, what would you prefer to be, an actor or artiste?
I would prefer to be more of an actor because it is less demanding. Singing comes with a lot of pressure for new songs. You end up producing substandard work for your fans. The songs I do are mostly for our dramas.

What do you do apart from acting with the Ebonies?
I run a mobile business. I deal in nursery and primary school books, I deliver them personally. I am also a social media marketer.

How do you balance these ventures with your and acting?
Truthfully, I have less time for my business, and this causes me losses although they are part of any business. The only plus I have is that I handle it myself and I conduct business in my free time so the losses are smaller in most cases.

How do you spend your free time?
I like clubbing and music. I usually hang out at Highway pub in Kyengera. It is a simple, exotic hideout, I find it relaxing. I usually pass by every Saturday night.

Where did you go to school?
I went to Mengo Primary School, Buganda Road Primary School for my Primary education, Buloba High School for O-Level and Makerere College School for A-Level before joining Makerere University for a degree in Music.
