Beauty Experience: The short hair style did the trick

Picking the right hairstyle for me has always been the hardest paper for me and they barely last a week on my head. I have myself and my mother to blame for it because she never says anything nice about my hair. It’s always you look like this and your skin looks rough with that hair.
And I guess this pushed me into having crazier hairstyles. The craziest hairstyle I ever had was the one I had a year ago when I woke up one day and felt I should cut one side of my hair and tint the other side gold. It didn’t look that bad. It just wasn’t appropriate. That’s all. My mother successfully made me cut my hair because she didn’t like ‘the yellow hair’. Months passed after my haircut and I didn’t know what to do with it. She tried to convince me to make it look like hers. How could I make it look like hers when she didn’t even know what they put in hers to make it look like that, all she knew was that ‘they rolled it in somethings’. I wasn’t going to go by that. And ‘I DID NOT WANT S-CURL!.
I finally went to the saloon and told the lady what I wanted and she, sat me down and started playing in the hair, she softened it and put perm rolls. And when she was finished, I looked even better than I had imagined.
I went home and when my mother saw she was happy she said see, “See, I told you those hairstyles you plait for old women make you look older than your age”. And my sister just shouted out how she had fallen for the look. “Now that’s the reaction I was looking for” I thought, A star was born!.
Now every time I look at another woman with short or natural hair, I feel like we should gang up for a photo shot, for strong afro-centric women. I guess the new look has given me the strong African Woman spirit, I think.
