Design by stenciling

From the get go this sounds like a kindergarten project and so it may be a little challenging to imagine this as part of your interior design feature.
Stencilling is the art of drawing and finally cutting out patterns on a paper or clear acetate then transferring the design onto the surface of your choice such as wall, furniture or pottery. If you don’t have the time or art to make your own stencil, pre-cut ones can be purchased from art shops.

Stencilling is an inexpensive way to transform your space. It was first used in European countries by foreigners who stencilled patterns of fruit or flowers to mimic the look of wall paper which was pricey at the time. Stencils can be used to create old style decor or an up-to-date one.

The things you can do with stencilling are as limitless as your imagination, that is, you can dress up a doorway or a window frame, throw cushions, floors, ceilings, fabric (plain curtains), lamp shades and ceilings with a pattern of your own design.

Always make sure you chose stencil paint colours that match the already existing scheme in the room.
If you are not that intricate with design, try big prints.
