Fashion mistakes to ponder

What you need to know:

  • Faux pas. There are certain common fashion misses we probably never realise we are making.

Mistakes and flaws in fashion are a common occurrence. In fact, many celebrities, who by the way have stylists on hand, make glaring mistakes too. It is, therefore, not that big a deal when you match the wrong the colours or wear the wrong neckline for your outfit.
However, there some flaws that are really avoidable and often times are made without even realising. Here are some of them, and how to try to avoid them:

Giving in to trends
Wearing clothes because they are trendy, even when you don’t feel confident in them. Always put confidence first. The way you look in clothes hugely depends on how you feel wearing them. Wearing shoes that are uncomfortable because they are trendy will always end into a disaster. Always wear clothes and shoes that make you feel and look confident. If you don’t feel beautiful in it even if it is the hottest trend, don’t wear it.

You are afraid to experiment
Yes, you understand your personal style to the T, and you probably have worn the same clothes for over three years. Why? You enjoy being in the comfort zone, and that is really boring. Once in a while, switch things up. Being predictable is not just boring to those around you, but also yourself. Try new colours, hemlines, fabrics and styles. You don’t know how fun it is to be adventurous, until you try out new things.

You think jeans should be washed as much as your other clothing.
Denim lovers know that raw denim can take up to six months to break in and shouldn’t be washed often. Why? Jeans really conform to the body of the wearer, and when you wash them, most of the shape gets lost. Most jeans today, however, are pre-washed to achieve a faded look and don’t need to be broken in. These you can wash more often, but only when they are stained or when they start to sag.

Spending a whole lot of money on shoes you barely wear
This is a very common habit. Women love shoes so much, that they would spend money on pairs that just look good on the racks of their wardrobe. These shoes take up an enormous amount of your space, and this can be used for lots of other things.
In most cases, it’s these shoes that cause all the clutter your wardrobe is having. If you can give them away, do, but next time you go shopping, avoid spending money on things you don’t need.

More food for thought

It’s therefore not so much of a big deal, when you match the wrong the colours or wear the wrong neckline for your body shape. However, there some flaws that are really avoidable and often times are made without even realising you are.
This week, we explore some of them, and how to avoid repeating them.

•You dress to impress your Instagram followers, friends or the world
Are you wearing clothes because you love them, or because the people around you love to see you in them? You might be getting all the yays and a big number of likes on your instagram posts thanks to your provocative style, but the truth is it’s not you. Step away from impressing other people and, start impressing you.

• Wearing clothes that don’t fit
We are in 2017, everything has to fit right. Remember that ill-fitting clothes will always make you feel uncomfortable. Visit a tailor and adjust everything you feel doesn’t fit right.

• You never wear flat shoes
There are many reasons women hate flat shoes. They think they aren’t elegant, and often times make the wearer look shorter than they really are. This is not enough reason to ditch flat shoes. Flat shoes are comfortable, and can look really nice on particular outfits. Wearing high heels almost all the time can affect your feet negatively, causing unnecessary pain.
