Investing in myself for my children’s sake

She has the most flowers I have seen my entire life. Her gate and surrounding wall are overgrown with a beautiful row of green plants and right from the driveway through the entire compound all the way into the house, kitchen, bathrooms, toilet and garage there’s an assortment of flowers. She has the not so rare species as well as the species that can only be imported into the country.
In response to my many moments of complete and total amazement she explained that flowers and tending for them is therapeutic for her. That is the reason she has invested massively in her flowers!
I do not know whether growing up has anything to do with this but with each passing day I regularly ponder how much I invest in the things that truly matter. The other day it was emphasized to me just how critical investing is.
One person wrote that seed time and harvest are some of the things that will always be in this world. There will always be a time of sowing in order for one to harvest. How much sowing is this mother doing in the children and what kind of investments are they?
Someone emphasized that investments are not only in the financial area, the bit we all tend to over emphasize. We are looking at investments from a broad and wholesome view into all areas of life because we are a sum total of all the things around us.

The things we see, hear, feel, experience, touch plus so much more.
What an awesome responsibility I keep muttering to myself.

A parent carries the awesome task of doing all this and more for their children. A certain leader in the years to come will be who they are because of something I have deposited in a child who happens to be a close confidant of the leader at that time.
The broken adult who became a serial killer is sometimes a result of an absent and sexually abusive parent. The parent with their own pains and frustrations sowed seeds of pain, anger and frustration which later culminate into another series of abusive relationships. I was being told how the elementary learning for all Japanese children is focused around values and humility. What great seeds to sow in generations.
