In Summary

Renown fashion designer, Latif Madoi, shared a runway with two of his students and our reporter was there to capture the glitz.

Of course, the master, Latif Madoi of Latif designs, showed off with his now expected sew-it-on-the-spot tactic, which was slightly revised from sewing a dress for a random guest in a set period of time, to sewing five dresses for five pre-selected models in 10 minutes.

The results were, as expected, nicely done dresses, made to perfectly fit the wearers, but none in a design we have not seen before. Impressive, nonetheless, as his skill never fails to wow.

Then, it was time to show the cream of the talent Latif has reared at his fashion academy with two of his most talented students.

First off, was Biff Twinomugisha of Shuba wear, most of whose designs were too skimpy to feature in this magazine, save for a few couture pieces he has showcased before whose pictures do not warrant coverage on this page because it would be repetition.

But then, Olivia Nakabazi of Olyne fashion house unveiled her designs and vindicated her recognition as one of his best students.

Yes, as is design, they were just renditions of styles we already know but she did have some amazing flowery and exotic pieces that could be worn off the catwalk without causing undue attention. And yes, there were pieces that made you wonder where the heaven she planned for them to be won, but she put up an impressive show.

So the master can rest easy; there is worthwhile talent to be proud of after all.
