A few years ago I designed some bedrooms for a block of fully furnished apartments and in this design, I chose to have the bedroom bed linen (bedcover) made from the same fabric as the curtain material creating a matchy matchy look. I was so thrilled with the results I applied it to my own bedroom!

I showed the results to a few of my friends and there were a lot of mixed reactions to this style;
Some thought the bedspread looking like the curtains was a little too much. It can be depending on the print you pick. Fabric that is designed in big, bold prints will create an overwhelming look but if you are to select a fabric of smaller prints, this look can be pulled off really well!

We are accustomed to pairing up plain fabric with floral or other printed fabric so going against this norm may seem incorrect. The beauty about this is that it creates a continuity in the room, the eyes move from the bed to the walls without clear distinction or division bringing harmony to the space.

This can be pulled off in two ways; the colour of paint you use on the walls.

To create a subtler look, the walls should be painted in much lighter shades/hues to the colours of the fabric. This makes the curtains pop out and in the process you also allow the room to expand and breath.

The other alternative is to apply a dark hue of paint preferably one that also appears in the fabric design. I know, this will seem to close in the room, making it cozy but it will also produce a stronger blending in effect. Either way this style will look fabulous in your space.
