You can make the first move but never the chase

Andrew Kyamagero is a happy man after successfully shedding off excess weight.

Where did you go to school?
I went to Hormisdallen Kirinya for my Primary and joined O-Level at St Johns Secondary School in Ntebetebe in Bweyogerere.
I completed secondary at Bethel Covenant College in Entebbe and joined Kampala University for a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication.

What do you like or hate in a relationship?
I hate assumptions, and I love communication. Communication is important in relationships as it allows us to share interests, aspirations and concerns to support each other.
It also helps to organise our lives and make decisions, and to work together while caring for children. Good communication is about the way we talk and listen, and our body language. We can all learn how to communicate better.

Would you date a woman who is not educated?
More than a piece of paper, I think that being on the same intellectual wavelength matters. I know that my partner and I can discuss anything under the moon and have an interesting conversation.
An uneducated woman is hard to rationalise and dissect issues with because theirs is a different world and they are too emotional.
Would you let a woman to take on your responsibilities as the head of the home?
Never. I’m an African man, liberal but that doesn’t mean I give away my responsibilities.
Before you know it she will be determining when the marital duties are due.

What quality would you like to share with your wife if you could?
Her humility. I would like to be as humble but the way we were brought up is totally different.

Women are fond of saying all men are the same, do you agree?
I hate such generalisations. What would it take for people to understand that nothing should be generalised like that? It is pointless.

Are you married, single or dating?
I am attached. That is to say, I have someone I’m sure about. I’m getting married to her very soon.

You have been pointed out as belonging to the Expendables group known for binge drinking, how do you guys handle?
Well, it depends on what you term as binge drinking but we are a group of happy people with ambitions in life and we support each other beyond family beams.

Whose idea was that by the way?
Expendables was started by comedian Patrick Salvador Idringi on August 23 last year. It was meant to bring friends together. Some of its members are Vince Musisi, Tonny Mutengu, Patrick Salvador, Irene Ntale and Sams Kagwa, among others.

Don’t you worry about how that reflects on you?
Besides how it reflects on me, there is also something called living my life. I live my life to the fullest. Expendables mey be known only by its bad side but it’s a group where we also help each other when necessary. I would not identify with Expendables if it ruined my reputation. But when it is for a good cause, you will definitely see me with the group.

You are always in the bar; you must hit on many girls.
Who tells you that? I never hit on girls. You know why?I move with my fiancée’s best friend and a member of Expendables, Mariat Nasasira, also a workmate at Galaxy FM. Besides, when we are happy in the bars, all that matters is drinking and celebrating life then driving back home.

What are some of the challenges you face as a radio presenter?
Society stratification. They believe we are moneybags. What they don’t know is that at times it’s a hard lane for us. Wives trusting us is a day to day challenge too.
Female fans at times get obsessed and you need to get a little, rude especially for liberal men like me.

What else do you do apart from being a journalist?
I manage companies’ social media pages and public relations. We also have a garden so sometimes I go gardening.

What is your ideal type of woman?
I like a woman who is an intercessor, educated, calm, humble, gorgeous, outgoing and above all, aggressive and ambitious.

All in one person? Does such a woman even exist?
Yes, such a person exists and she lives with me. Her name is Linda Ngadire, the woman I am planning to marry very soon.
