Vanessa Mugwaneza: While the majority of us are stepping to work in dress pants and pencil skirts, the 24-year-old financial manager at DMY Cleaning Services is rocking her jumpsuits to the office.

Jumpsuits are largely considered to be a casual outfit, and probably something you can get away with at work on a Friday. However, Vanessa Mugwaneza, who has countless jumpsuits in her closet, proves that this attire can work from Monday t o Friday if you so like.

Here are a few guidelines for those who may want to try out her path and wear jumpsuits to work;
Two-toned jumpsuits are a good choice for work. For example, a black and white jumpsuit, or a turquoise and black would do you some fashion justice. Keep the brighter tone on top.

The nature of your jumpsuit determines what accessories you wear with it. If the jumpsuit has a busy print, then keep the accessories minimal. If it is plain, then have statement accessories to match.

For the curvy woman, it is better to go for a neutral-coloured jumpsuit such as black, which is a slimming colour. If you opt for prints like floral, polka dots or tribal prints, keep them small, especially if you are a plus size.

A thicker fabric with a busy waistline, or a print top and a solid, dark-coloured bottom will create shape and draw the eye in to more “attractive” features.

Vanessa’s style tips
• The fit matters a lot. If a jumpsuit looks ill-fitting below your waist, then it is the wrong size. It draws every one’s attention to that part, which will make you uncomfortable the whole time you are wearing it.
• Fewer accessories for a printed or patterned jumpsuit will make it more favourable for work.
• To work, wear your jumpsuit with a pair of heels or wedges. Keeping it off the ground will make your jumpsuit look more official than casual.
