I want someone who challenges me

How would you describe yourself?
I am self-driven, honest and value of integrity. Every day I work to improve myself and my skills which is part of maturing and becoming better at what I do.

When and how did you start emceeing?
I started during my A-Level. In fact my first gig was our senior six leavers’ party.

What can you say enabled you progress in your career?
The love and passion I have for emceeing keeps me going, keeps me on my toes. I also have a lot of people around me from whom I can learn.
What challenges have you faced?
People sometimes do not pay after delivery of my services and this is always a downer for me.

What does it take to be a good emcee?
Just like all other professions, it comes with passion and creativity.

What functions have been memorable for you?
They are quite a number, however, one of the biggest was way back in 2016 Tanzania Fiesta music show in Dar-es-salaam one of the biggest music shows that happens every year and it was my first time to see our own Jose chameleon and his brothers live. Another one was Blink Leavers’ Rock awards in Mbarara among others.

Men are said to be poor communicators, how do you rate yourself?
I am a good listener, so yes I think I am a good communicator.

What else do you do apart from emceeing?
I am an IT expert, radio presenter at Juice FM, an actor in the Hostel series, Dr. Nice, Coffee Shop series and many others.

What do you want to be more, an emcee or a radio presenter?
I love emceeing more since it pays more and includes travelling which is one of my hobbies.

Radio presenters are said to be womanisers, are you the kind?
That is just stereotyping. A job cannot make you behave in a certain way. I respect myself and the people I date enough not to sleep around.

Why do men say they cannot understand women?
Scientifically proven, women evolve every 10 years, so probably that is why. A woman of 10 years ago is not the same today while men make little changes in their lives over time.

What irritates you?
I loathe liars.
Are you married, do you have children?
I am not yet married and I do not have any children.
What do you find attractive in a woman?
Character, beauty and godliness. I cannot get tired of someone who constantly challenges me.
Tell us about your background
I come from a big and loving family. I was brought up by my uncle Everest Tungotyo and Aunt Harriet Mushabe whom I refer to as mummy and daddy.

I went to Kirinya Parents Primary School, Excell Secondary School for O-Level, St. Johns Secondary School for A-Level. I later joined Makerere for a degree in Computer Science before joining Uganda Institute of Information and Communications Technology. I am 25 years old.

On women emcees
The gender does not matter, as long as the person has passion, confidence and they are creative, they will be good. I know a female emcee in Mbarara who goes by Mc Jay who is better than some of the male ones around me.
