Exercising to good health

Doing exercise to keep fit does not necessarily mean you have to go to the gym. According to Dr Stanley Nsubuga Kizito from Mulago hospital, whether at work or home, you can still keep fit through various routines. He shares a few tips.

• Walking
With good weather, you can walk to and from home over a long distance without getting tired. In case you decide to walk indoors, you can take the stairs up and down more than 10 times a day to make it more interesting.
At office, make sure you do not sit in the same place for long hours. It is advisable to take small walks around the office after every two hours.

• Push-ups
Push-ups are one of the best exercise routines because of the many benefits it has, from building strength, boosting metabolism and keeping the body in good shape.

• Jogging
You can decide to jog in the living room by making many rounds while watching TV or even listening to music. This can also be done outside the home. Benefits of jogging include healthy heart and improved blood circulation. It is also recommended for people who are looking at losing weight.

• Rope skipping
When was the last time you skipped a rope? It is cheap and portable – and burns more calories than you might think . So take up the chance and start skipping today.
