How I Keep Fit: Norman Blick, basketball player, D-Mark Power

I am Norman Blick, 30 years old, and I play for D-Mark Power as an all-rounder. I come from a sporting family. I used to play football at school, but when I returned home, there were no people to play with.
That is when I started to play basketball with the people I would hang out with. I have been playing since 1995, and won several championships with the various teams I have played with including D-Mark Power, Warriors, Nkumba Marines, and Sky Jammers.
I work out three days a week, especially during the game seasons. We have practice sessions on Mondays and Tuesdays, and also on days before games. I do push-ups, sit-ups, and jogging. Off season, I go to the gym three times a week. I do not engage in heavy exercise just because I want to keep fit.
I prefer the treadmill and simple weight lifting exercises.
Any exercise mistakes?
Not really. We have a trainer, who advises on the kind of exercise we should engage in.
However, as the season gets on and we start to play several games, the body gets fatigued. You train hard, but somehow, it does not show when you are on the court.
I do not pay much attention to what I eat. There was a time I used to eat a lot of burgers to gain some mass, but that did not work.
I am just a skinny guy and I do not have to worry about obesity.
I love eating meat with a lot of kacumbari, nakati, and cassava. I also make sure I am hydrated. As a team we drink milk and juice after every game.
When I am not playing, I love watching rugby and basketball.
As told to Alexandrina Nakanwagi.
