In Summary
After Martin Ochom’s hip bone was crashed in a boda boda accident, he was left helpless and now, only a replacement that will cost Shs7m can give him hope.
The misery cannot get any worse for a man who stays alone as he separated with his wife who now stays with his three children. He stays with a relative who helps him with house chores and personal work.
Finding it hard to survive
However, because he can no longer perform his job as a mason, he has had to rely on irregular handouts from sympathetic residents. Often times, he sleeps hungry when the handouts don’t come.
His condition gets worse whenever it rains or gets cold and also when he walks long distances due to lack of money for public transport.
“I have to remain in bed for some days till it improves with pain killers and start looking for help again,” he shares.
Ochom is optimistic that once the operation is done, he will become productive again and fend for himself and the family.
“I appeal to the general public to help me in any way possible so that I can become a complete human being again and support my family and myself,” he says.
