Did Injectaplan fail to work?

What you need to know:

  • Urinating often, heartburn, back pain and feeling full most of the time may be symptoms of many conditions.

I am using Injectaplan but I have all symptoms of pregnancy. I urinate often, have heartburn, back pain and feel full most of the time. Is it possible for me to have conceived even when I am on a birth control plan?

Dear Jassy: When used correctly injectaplan is very effective in preventing pregnancy (more than 99%). The contraceptive works for three months but many women do not get another injection in time. Thus, many get their next shot when already pregnant.
If a woman gets an Injectaplan shot within the first seven days after the start of her period, she is protected from pregnancy. However, at any other time of the cycle, another form of birth control (like a condom) should be used for the first week after getting the shot.
When a woman has taken three weeks or more, in excess of three months, without taking the next shot, she has to take a pregnancy test first before the jab is given. Also then another method of birth control, (like a condom) has to be used for the next week after getting the contraceptive to avoid getting pregnant.
Urinating often, heartburn, back pain and feeling full most of the time may be symptoms of many conditions. If a pregnancy test is negative, then peptic ulcer disease, a urinary tract infection or even stress may be suspected.
