Green tea, a necessity on your shelf

Justus Muhangi, a health consultant at Dynapharm International, says green tea has both synthetic antibiotic and probiotic properties which help in digestive health. Muhangi says green tea has been a raw material for extracts for many cosmetic products, healthy foods as well as dietary supplements.
Green tea comes in form of capsule tablets, as leaves both fresh and dried or in powder form but before using it, a person should be vigilant about the quality because there are so many fake products on market.
According to Muhangi, various research has been carried out to establish both medicinal and nutritional values of green tea and the researches have shown the following results;
• Green tea contains antioxidant compounds which reduce the formation of free radicals in the body. So, they act as immune boosters that fight diseases. Any anti-oxidant is also an anti-aging compound.
• Green tea if taken frequently can improve insulin sensitivity and therefore reduce the level of blood sugars thereby reducing the risk of diabetes, heart diseases and stroke by constraining the formation of blood clots in the body.
• It increases cholesterol burning for people who want to lose weight and also boost the metabolic rate for proper digestion.
• Since the tea has antibiotic properties, it inhibits the growth of bacteria so it lowers the risk of infection, improves dental health and fights bad breath.
• It inhibits the growth of cancer cells hence lowering the risk of various cancer types such as breast, prostate, colorectal and skin cancer.
• Improves brain alertness and functioning, reduces mood swings, reduces memory loss and fights food poisoning.
