I need to get pregnant fast
Dear Doctor: I have been stressed a lot and yet I need to get pregnant again because my husband has started complaining. Does stress stop women from getting pregnant? — Stella
Dear Stella: Stress can result from many problems, including failure to get pregnant which makes it more difficult to conceive. That said, stress alone may not directly lead to infertility but may lead a woman to get involved in unhealthy behaviour and lifestyle that may delay getting pregnant.
Too much or too little sleep, lack of exercise as one finds solace in food, smoking or drinking too much alcohol and avoiding sex are all contributing factors. Stress can affect the part of the brain (the hypothalamus) that controls the hormones required to release eggs for pregnancy so that a few women may not only get irregular periods but also irregular ovulations. This though may not significantly affect getting pregnant, in presence of other said factors; pregnancy may be a far cry.
