What you need to know:

There are circumstances that would call for a house with two master suites. For example, you may support an ageing relative. Explore the possibilities that this type of house offers.

Mastering the size and finish for your house plan will bring out the beauty with which a two-master suite house comes. A few features need to be considered when building this type of house. Civil engineers say the plan should be given ample time and the deserved attention for the desired end result.
Steven Kayiwa, a civil engineer, says a house with two master suites should have the following features;

The rooms
Big sized rooms would be ideal for this type of house plan.
House plans with dual master suites feature two bedrooms with large private bathrooms and roomy (usually walk-in) closets. These bedrooms are similar in size, and are often located on different sides of the home, or even different levels to afford privacy to occupants.
“A four by four metre room would be enough, but again this would depend on some of the things that you will include in the bedroom,” says Kayiwa.

Room specification
These include open plan sitting and dining rooms, a sizable kitchen built in a way that makes it easy to be part of the dining area, with a door that leads to the back yard.
The kitchen also has two recesses on which shelves for storage, and another that can be used as a laundry can be set up.

Dressing room
Frank Wabwire, an architect, says an open dressing room would be very important when it comes to providing extra space for you.
“Have wardrobes without doors. This makes it easy to organise your clothes and other items because they are in a place you can easily see and access them,” says Wabwire.

Benefits
House plans with two master bedrooms aren’t just for those who have parents or grandparents living with them, though this is a great way to welcome your loved ones into your home.
According to eplans, an online platform, in today’s society, parents are finding that their children stay home longer, finishing degrees before launching their careers and purchasing their own homes.

House plans with two master bedrooms provide space to let your adult kids enjoy privacy while still providing them support.
• Perhaps you are not married but wish to purchase a home with a roommate.
House plans with two master suites make it easier for two responsible adults to share the costs of homeownership, without having to draw straws to determine who gets the master suite.
• Maybe you are married, but find that you and your spouse enjoy having separate spaces to call your own. Again, home plans with two master suites can help with this need.

Doors and windows
Samson Egessa, a civil engineer, says you need an open air house that will blend in well with nature.
“Natural light and air that come in from outside are important. Choose an open-door kind of design,” says Egessa.
Mahogany door-frames and doors are very strong and durable. Despite their prices being abit higher, Egessa says these should be chosen because they will last longer.
“They also give the house elegance when it comes to finishing and it blends with the walls depending on the colours used for painting,” advises Kayiwa.

Advice
Adding a master suite will make a big difference to your life, but may not equally impact the value of your house.
If yours is the only master suite on the block, you will recoup less than if master suites are standard in your neighbourhood. Not everything is about money, however. If you plan to stay in your house for another three to five years, adding a private oasis could just be priceless.www.houselogic.com.
