Decorate your house with Easter eggs

Ever wondered what to do differently every year during the Easter Holiday? Well, much as there is a tinge of excitement that you will be eating meat all week and not on specific days, this deserves a celebration. But how do you make it count?

Besides the movies and Easter plays showing in church, the Easter eggs could be a wonderful décor ‘recipe’ to try. If you have children at home, try getting them involved in doing this. You will marvel at the beauty of your home.

The eggs
The Easter eggs can be the daily poultry eggs. You can have them painted or dyed. If boiling the eggs seems so much of a tedious act, you can opt for the artificial eggs. These usually come in different designs and colours. You can try looking for them at selected supermarkets or even bookshops around town.

How to paint them
Incase you opt for natural eggs, boil and paint them to a design and colour of your preference. To make it more interesting, you can paint them in different colours. The preferred options are purple or anything bright.

How to use them
Carol Nankunda, an occasional decorator says, you can place the decorated eggs in your compound. These can be hanged on a tree. Nankunda however notes that the tree should have dry branches. Or you can get a fresh tree (like the ones used for Christmas)
Tie the decorated eggs with ribbons then hang them on the dry Easter tree.

When you place them inside the house, you can place them in a container of your choice. Tie a cloth around it and cover it with table cloths. The uniqueness can be something according to your liking.

Faith K Lukwago, an interior designer with Mikka Interiors notes that when it comes to Easter, there is not much décor required like is the case with Christmas.

Colours
Lukwago recommends bright colours such as lime green, pink and purple. She advises that if any changes are to be made, then you should consider the incorporation of such colours.

“One can do simple decorations on the dining tables although Easter decorations are more about the bunnies and eggs,” Lukwago says.

Furthermore, you can opt for console tables. This Lukwago shares will make your home welcoming to your guests. Besides being multi-purpose, a console table is ideal for your Easter Celebration. It can act as a home bar and when its time for the great meal, it can be turned into a dining table. The trick is in using bright colours when setting up so that it stands out.

The trick lies in understanding the purpose for Easter celebrations. Once you have established this, let your mind wonder and embrace creativity. Play around with anything as long as it will fit the occasion.

Try making Easter bunny cookies or even drawing them on the eggs. Then serve them with custom made drinks in specific colours. You can do a purple milkshake or even lime green juice served with themed cookies. Remember Easter is a time to jubilate and celebrate the resurrection of Christ.

A celebration is always sealed with a display of food. You can opt for a round table setting. Lelia Kyomuhangi, the managing director, Albar Catering Services recommends a buffet of local foods.

“You can choose to invite different family members for a luncheon. This can make it more interesting.” Kyomuhangi recommends encouraging every family member coming with a special dish to form the Easter celebration.

You can agree on what you want to cook and afterwards everyone decides to carry a certain dish. Local dishes such as stews and local foods can be ideal.

Use boiled eggs

Since eggs are fragile, opting for non-boiled ones will be a risk yet the artificial ones are exactly that, artificial and not that appealing to the eye, for a clean and safe décor item, opt for boiled ones and paint them with dye that is safe for children because you will eat them after they serve their intended purpose.

Incase of painting
Remember Easter is a time to rejoice and the more, the merrier. Carol Nankunda an occasional decorator recommends that should you choose to do a repainting, opt for bright colours such as purple. She notes that this is to ensure that your exterior is appealing and inviting hence creating an Easter mood.
