If you want to create something new or get off from the ordinary, then hanging plants should be your option. Hanging plants play a significant role in bringing beauty both inside the house and in the compound.

It doesn’t just end at elegance but also gives you a unique garden as well. These plants are a bit unique and easy to manage compared to others. Also, they save you space hence an option for those with limited space.

You can as well choose to have vegetables as hanging plants. The best vegetables are cherry tomatoes, egg plants and straw berries.

“For pots or buckets, buy a size that will not pull the roof off your house. Hanging pots should not be more than 1. 5ft high and the gardener should choose for you what suits your tastes and style.” he adds.
Some of the best hanging plants include:

Petunias
These grow in a bush shape and will bloom often with many coloured flowers. They attract birds especially humming birds. They are cheap to mantain.

Vine species
These are beautifully coloured flowers. They include impatiens.

Plant mint
These are also a good option. They grow quickly and bring in a feeling of fresh air beside acting as herbs especially for weight loss.

Vegetable hanging
These pants include: cherry tomatoes, egg plants and straw berry. They need to be sprayed to avoid pest invasion.

The verbena flower
This flower can grow well in any soil type as long as it is well drained.

Moss rose
When planting, these are normally affected with insects and snails that can damage them. It is better you treat them with insecticides or repellents as needed.

Heliotrope
These are highly fragrant flowers on three-foot-tall plants.

Boniface Wanja, of Bonre Consultancy Palour, says when choosing plants to be used in hanging baskets, weather and need are pertinent.
“Choose plants that best suit the climate you live in, place your baskets in positions that allow enough penetration of sunlight.” He says.
In case you want food, he says vegetable plants such as strawberries, eggplants and cherry tomatoes because these do not only provide beauty but food too. For purposes of beauty only, impatiens, petunias are the best. They have beautiful colours and are easy to maintain.

Where to hang them
Hanging plants can be placed in numerous places among which are: on tree branches, porches, roofs and pole yards.
Wanja says that the containers used are not specific however it must be something that can hold water. It may be empty used tins of paint, plastic pots, old boats or shoes and much more. One can as well choose from a variety of vessels on the market.
