“Crochet is not just for socks and scarfs. There are some fantastic patterns for crocheting your home decor, everything from cushions to chair covers, bedcovers, flower vases and basket covers. These can be used in small kitchens to oversized living room,”Nakito says.
She says, there can never be too many stylish vases or baskets at home, where to put objects. Knitting colourful covers in a round shape like that of hats will give your vases or baskets a new beautiful look once you make them wear those knitted covers, they can transform the look and feel of the rooms.
She explains that knit home décor is trendy right now and there is probably no easier way to upgrade your home from ordinary look super cozy than with a large durable surface with knitted element.
“Nothing beats the feeling of stepping onto a comfy knitted carpet when slipping off your shoes. This knitting is perfect for an entryway or kitchen in need of a simple floor mat,” she says adding that knitted accessories are durable and cost friendly, depending on the size of what you buying. You can own knitted décor, for more than 30 years. If it is a carpet and is well-handled, each day, you can feel amazed by how it feels every time you step on it.

Effect
Nakito says layer up with knitted pillows with similar colours on your sofas and you will have a relaxing feeling in your living room, which you will not want to leave. If you are going to make a statement with knitted decor, then you cannot go wrong with colorfully knitted elements that bring out the cuteness.
“…you can do it yourself if you know how to knit, make some floor cushions. A floor cushion will bring a cozy touch to a room and a great use for old or cheap throws or even unwanted knitted jumpers patch worked together. You could knit or crochet the cover if you are skilled using yarn and a needle or hire a skilled person to do it for you,” she clarifies.

Put on bulbs
Simon Mukasa, an interior designer at RoyalInteriors Decorators, in Nateete, a city suburb says with the invention of less flammable light sources, lamps and bulbs, in one’s home can as well wear sweaters without burning up and bring out the attractiveness of interior décor.
Other than that Mukasa says the inspiration of knitting is taken from different cultures. The materials that speak about the importance of famous values within the society are used. Knitting decor in the past years had lost value; however, recently home owners have learnt that once a professional interior designer is hired to arrange knitted décor it can make your home stylish and to create a warm residential environment connecting cultures and skills.

Where to use it
Mukasa notes that of all the rooms in the home, the bedroom is probably the most obvious residential space that can carry knitted furnishings, creating a warm and welcoming environment. These may include; bean bags knitted from. Besides its natural feature of molding to your body to offer a comfortable relaxing experience, bean bags need texture and colour to truly become part of the space they adorn.
Chair covers with knitted cushion tops, coverings or crochet dressed legs look chic once you have one or two next to your dressing table.

COST
While it’s true that the initial cost might be a bit heavy, it makes more economic sense in the long run. “This is a one time expenditure that serves cost free for the next 30 years or so. And about its effectiveness, people should feel comfortable that the technology itself has been proven, as a reliable, and a clean energy source.
