Having a country house is a good investment epecially during those times when you want to get away from the noise in the city. But you need to cut costs during the construction process.

At least every one has the desire to build a house in the village and, therefore, in this article, we share a few ideas about building a simple but stylish house in the village.

But since constant supervision on village projects is so limited by the commitments that people have in urban centres, it’s advisable that you make wise decisions so that you can translate this dream into a reality.

Cutting Costs
1. Bricks, If possible, make bricks on site, as this would help you cut the cost by about 30 per cent or 50 per cent. On average, the plan shown here needs approximately 28,000 bricks which cost about Shs5.5m in urban areas. This is how you would cut this cost in the village.

2. Hire workers, You can pay them per brick as opposed to paying them per day, this will make them produce all the bricks you need in the shortest time possible. On average, a good brick-maker makes about 800 to 1000 bricks per day, and therefore, it takes about two weeks for three brick layers to make the bricks required for this house. Make sure you have enough land for drying the bricks before stacking them; each bricks need about one to two weeks to dry properly before they are stacked.

Materials
Put in place all the necessary measures to ensure that the materials on site are secure, and whenever you go to check the work progress, ensure you collect as much information as possible about the material usage. Gross area of this house is approximately 145 square metres and will require about 55 to 60 roofing sheets.

The plan shown is an example of a three bedroom edhouse that maybe suitable for a country home,
