Invest in a beautiful welcoming entrance

For a house to be interesting, it must have a beautiful entrance It is that pleasant look that gives the first impression to the visitors before getting in. People have on different occasions failed to make their house entries exciting while focusing at the inside, forgetting that the first impression gives an insight of what the house contains before one gets in.
While talking to a friend, I realised that she used good professional skilled labour during her house construction and designing. On a visit, my eyes were excited by the reflecting tiles, nice decorative flowers, beautiful lights, photo flames hanged around on the wall a beautiful door mat and flower vessels at the entrance. “I made sure that I use the best interior designer and also went for quality deco’ pieces. The other trick is that no one enters the house with his or her shoes on to maintain the beauty and cleanness of the house,” she says.
Should be warm, bright
Josephine Mulumba a hardware shop owner at Nakasero says that a house entry sets the attitude of the whole interior of the house. “A clean and bright welcoming entry gives the owner a distinction from people who visit his or her house,” she says.
Beautiful doormat
She further notes that a house entry needs something more than just a rug to cover the bare floor. A beautiful doormat will depend on the colour, type, material, design and how one fixes it. “If it’s about attaining beauty, one has to first put a rubber type of rug at the shade stare to hold the muds then a sisal type hold dust. The rubber rug prevents the doormat at the entrance from getting filled with dust and mud thus maintaining the beauty,” she explains.
She says that a red or black coloured doormat is better because it matches with all colours.
Using clocks
Sharon Onyango a sales assistant at Fun & Furniture limited says that although art pieces are nice on the wall, different clock and plate designs bring out exactly what a wall hanging would have done. She mentions sunflower, steel, glass and wood wall clocks and plate types.
De-clutter
“Clear all the clutter from the door way so that it remains free. A wall unit can be of use in case of other deco pieces,” she says. “The easiest way to make a house entry inviting is to leave it free from dust, dirt or stains” Ms Onyango adds. She however reveals that a water fountain can also make an entry exciting with water that keeps flowing from it.
To Sheila Mirembe a sales manager, Beautiful Living, a house entry with art work or photo flames hanged around on the wall makes it beautiful. It is the art pieces and flamed photos that normally occupy visitor’s minds thus giving them the duty to interpret the meaning of the art.
“A house that has flamed art work hanged around on the wall looks nice. Such art work has a secret of beautifying the room and many would like to know who made them, where to get them and the cost,” she says.
Colour
With the colour, Mirembe explains that one has to paint the room with a white colour and matches it with any other of his or her choice. This will help in matching the colours of the furniture, curtains and other items.
Ritah Lwanga from world of lights in Kamwokya notes that for the house entry to have an inviting impression, it must possess beautiful lights. Because lights have to be of a diming type, Lwanga says that one has to buy light flames with candle blubs and a diming switch that will help in controlling the light. “Chandria lights and side lamps, moon lights together with ceiling fittings will make one achieve an inviting house entry,” she advices.
Natural flowers
While Resty Namuddu, a sales person with Footsteps Furniture Company Limited says that natural flowers and plants make a house entry beautiful. She adds that flowers should always be placed by the door way entrance and the falling type of flowers at the shade pole side. Inside the house the vessels should be placed in the corners. “The flowers have to be placed in vessels and the type of vessels will depend on the type flower. For long plants, one needs to use big and long vessels unlike the short flowers that will go for small vessels,” she says.
However, she says that one can as well opt for electrified artificial flowers that are able to give light at night.
