Live in a dusty place? Here is how to clean your interior

Putting chair covers can prevent them from getting dust and keep them beautiful.

What you need to know:

Some places are often dusty and hence require an extra touch while cleaning. There are things you can use to help you clean that dust more easily.

Dust can be a put off for many people. You may not notice it when acquiring the property because you are probably blinded by the urge to move into it.
But what happens when you notice that your property easily gets dusty?
If you are not serious enough, chances are you will be forced to buy furniture almost every year, according to Jacob Mawanda, an interior designer.

Covering your furniture
“You should cover your furniture with chair covers to avoid them from getting damaged by the dust, especially when you are leaving the house for some time,” he says.

Use dryer
According to Mawanda, you can use dryers or wind blowers to clean electronic accessories, because this helps to remove the dust which has entered inside the machine without damaging or opening it .

Dusting every day
House owners or tennants should keep dusting the house daily during general cleaning because it stops the dust from accumulating on the your furniture or walls.

Add ventilators
Ventilators help to allow dust to move out. You should also leave your windows and doors open for a certain period of time.
Window screens and screen doors will prevent some dust from entering the house, but it is better to keep windows and doors closed when possible.

Place air purifiers in rooms
This helps suck up dust before it settles on property. Instead of using normal air cleaners you can choose fan-powered cleaners. These helps to blow out dust.

Use wood, metal, pastic
These are easier to clean than drapes. Just wipe with a microfibre cloth or an electrostatic duster. If you have drapes, dust or vacuum rods or valances first, then clean the length with your vacuum’s brush or padding tool on lower section.
Plant flowers and trees
Surround your home with trees and flowers because these help to hold the dust which can move directed in to the house.

Use curtains along with nets
Mawanda says while decorating your windows and door, use curtains and nets because when you remove the curtains during day time the nets remain and block the dust that enters. They also make the rooms more beautiful.

Paint with dull colours
One should also paint their walls with dull colours to avoid too much noticeable dust from settling on them. Colours such as cream, brown and maroon will do the magic.

Use door mats
Stop the dust at the door by placing door mats outside entrances. Make it a policy to remove shoes and leave them outside before entering the house.

Use a vacuum
Use a vacuum with a high-efficiency air filter. This traps tiny stuff. Run it once a week on trafficked areas.
Also, empty the canister and change bags and belts when needed. Keep the brush wheel free of hair and other material. Check for cracks or loose hinges, and get it serviced often to keep it running smoothly.

Put wall to wall carpets.
Ripping out and replacing carpeting is not always practical, but it might be something to strive for. And until we can all be carpet free. Carpets are easier to clean than plain wall.

Things to avoid

Inorder to keep a clean interior in a dusty place, there are things you should look out for. among these are the detergents you use and the size and type of wall hangings you put in your house.

Do not use fabric softener. Do not use these on your rags or microfibre cloths because it reduces their ability to attract and hold dust and absorb liquids.

Do not use heavy hangings. Curtains and heavy hanging (drapes) capture dust. Consider replacing them with blinds or shutters, which are easily cleaned.
