What you need to know:

Children need convincing to do a number of things and among these is bathing. But if they have a bathroom that is entertaining, this will make bath time a lot easier.

Children always have different needs in terms of bathroom facilities. One of the most important things to consider when designing a bathroom for your children is their safety.

Use professionals
According to Charles Adero, a structural designer at Alpha logistics, parents need to find a professional bathroom installer to work on the children’s bathroom. Having a highly trained plumber is important because they always consider things such as safety, comfort and the need to limit chances of infection in children from the bathroom.

The colours and safety
Adero says, “When creating a child friendly bathroom, you need to take time to choose the right colours, design and style. Children like bright colours nevertheless, it can be a great idea to stick to the basic colours and before you put any designs you should think about the children safety, the tiles should not be slippery most especially the floor should have rough textured tiles.”

Don’t install a tub
He explained that: “Obviously, it is not advisable to install a bath tub for children and you live them to bathe in it unattended to, as they may drown. Parents are advised to avoid installing taps that protrude so much and are too low, the door lock should be easily opened so that children do not lock themselves in.”

Shower head
“It is better to place a small fun showerhead at just the right height for a child shower. Fully adjustable height to grow with your child making showering fun and easy with a soft spray and a fun character spray head, for example, there are those designed in shapes of sea animal such as dolphin, octopus or blowfish,” Adero says.

Water heater
“It is not advisable to put a shower mixer for children as they may fail to control the water temperatures. However, if your children enjoy bathing warm water, you can install a water heater that should be regulated and controlled by an adult.”
