Why you need a landscaper

Landscapers will level your garden to the desired size, shape and give it a professional design.

What you need to know:

Many people ignore the role of landscapers in gardening because they think hiring a landscaper is a waste of resources. Here is why you need to hire a landscaper.

To cut costs, most people opt to design their compounds themselves hence neglecting a landscaper. According to Boniface Wanja, a landscaper and director Bonre Consultancy Palour, for one to get a unique, beautiful and elegant garden, they need to have a landscaper.
He adds that there are certain things that only landscapers can do right, for example, choosing plants and lawn, creating drainage systems among other things that ordinary people may fail to.

Who is a landscaper?
A landscaper is described as a professional responsible for the cultivation and care of the landscaping and grounds surrounding in a home or building. Their job involves planting, mowing, weeding, structuring, and doing repairs on the garden.
Gardeners also level and measure gardens to give them a good shape.

Why you need one to have a uniform garden
Landscapers have the intellect and skills to draft a better garden than yourself. They will level it to the desired size, shape and give it a professional design.
“We have seen gardens that have heaps and holes, this is all a result of the unprofessionalism put in when setting the garden. Gardens should be levelled to give them a uniform touch,” he adds.

Get on the trend
Wanja explains that what was on trend in 2016 is totally different from what is on now, a landscaper will set your garden according to what is one trend. “for example, right now, functional gardens are the trend, people set their gardens to look beautiful as well as earn them money or serve a variety of purposes such as play areas, swimming pools and all this research and invention is done by a landscaper,” he adds.
He also notes that it does not end at knowing the trend but goes beyond the creativity you apply to make it look good and unique. Some people set up compounds that actually look like food gardens which takes the owner off the initial use of a compound.

Get a good drainage
Rose Masika, a gardener, notes that a landscaper will level your garden putting in mind the drainage system and how to avoid erosion.
This could be hard for a person who is not qualified in that field.
A landscaper will set your garden according to where the water flows, check on where to put the trenches among others. This will help you reduce the risk of soil erosion, reduce potholes on the garden that could be caused by running water among others.

Knowledge of plants
Wanja notes that some plants are not meant for some kind of gardens for example, if you have a small garden, you cannot plant big shrubs as it will look like a bush or perhaps bring in snakes and insects, some plants do not need to planted directly in the soil and some cannot work in vessels. Others need too much care while other do not.
All this expertise can only be done by a landscaper.
Importance of good landscaping

It gives your home value
A good garden gives a house value. Wanja notes that for people who want to sell their houses, a good and smart garden gives a buyer an insight of how clean the house owner is and how he looks after his home.

It brings beauty
A garden is the first thing a person will see before they get to your house. When it is good looking, it adds more beauty to the house.

It gives the owner comfort
Everyone loves to stay in a cool and good-looking environment, a well-planned garden will automatically bring comfort to the owner.

If you are to set up your own garden
If you really must set up your garden yourself, Boniface Wanja, a landscaper at Bonre Consultancy Palour, gives you tips on how to go about it.

Size and shape of your garden
He notes that before you can set your garden, you need to have a clear picture of your garden size and how best it can be set up. This includes seeing where flowers will look best and where to place the trees. Incase the garden is not levelled, then you need to give it a good shape. A good garden has to be on one level.

People in your home
You need to have in mind the kind of people who will use your garden, are they children or adults, will you have cars passing through the compound or not. This will help you chose what materials to use in your garden for example lawn or pavers, thorny flowers and trees or the smooth ones.

What will define your garden
This is the theme of the garden, a garden should have a common colour that describes it, all the other things incorporated in the garden should be complementing that particular colour.

Learn about the plants
He says you need to learn about your plants; what kind of flowers they bear, root types, how big they grow. Never buy flowers just because they look good while young because they could be a disappointment when grown.
