How to use the extra space

What you need to know:

If you have rooms in your house that are not yet in use, you do not have to let dust pile up in such a room. There are different ways you can put such a room to better use.

There are times when you realise that you have extra space and probably you are wondering how to utilise it.
This can happen when you build a three-bedroom house, but the size of your family at that particular time can only use two bedrooms, and therefore the extra bedroom can be converted or used to serve several other purposes.
Another example is a garage, which could be used to serve other purposes in case the owner doesn’t plan to buy a car in the near future.
There are other rooms that may be built within the house but will not be used for their purposes for quite some time and it’s a good idea to use them for other immediate purposes.
The extra spaces always arise due to many reasons as discussed below:

Future use
Planning for the future is among the major causes of extra vacant space in the house, for example a couple that does not have a child yet will build a four bedroom house, hoping that some rooms will belong to their children. The house gets built and completed when there are no children, which means the other rooms cannot be used for their purpose.

Change of mind
At times, there is need for extra space (for specific activities) even when the house is complete, and the easier way to get this space is by converting the already existing rooms.

Change of lifestyle
Changes in people’s life style, may end up changing the functionality of the house.

Lack or availability of funds
When the funds are low, you may not achieve what you had originally planned for whereas there is liberty to change your house as desired when the funds are available.
Extra space in the house can be turned into the following spaces.
Prayer room, study room, home office, storage, extensions to other rooms, family room, TV room, morning room or exercise area.
The example given here is of a three-bedroom house, with a garage, where the third bedroom has been turned into a prayer room, (or other rooms are also possible), and can be converted back to a bedroom must the need arise.
