How can junior staff be motivated?

I have been working for five years now but my salary has remained the same. I’m wondering how my organisation can help to motivate me in the face of the rising cost of living.
Jane

Dear Jane,
Besides promotions, a salary increment is another method of rewarding staff for their contribution to the organisation. This is rightly so, especially for the lower-level and least-paid employees, who are often stressed by ‘minor’ financial needs. Since they are lower in rank, they mostly rely on their supervisors to argue their case before top decision makers.
However, if a supervisor is also pursuing their cases, there will be lesser chances of negotiating lower cadres’ salary concerns. This can affect staff productivity and contribute to separations.
Nonetheless, regular salary reviews extended to the lower-level workers can make such a huge impact, especially in terms of boosting their purchasing power and loyalty. Since top-level managers are always busy attending planning meetings to strategise for the organisation, providing leadership and direction, they need the middle and lower-level staff to implement such decisions.
Treat your team fairly. Do not try being nice only when you need some work to be done. This also involves bettering staff working conditions.
Also, a supervisor should create and implement an effective channel of communicating with the lower-level staff. This helps them to understand their concerns and finding solutions. The overall outcome will be a happy and committed team.
