What kind of person are HRs most unlikely to hire?

I keep wondering what HRs want. I need to know what kind of person most HR look out for so I can adjust to their needs. What kind of person are HRs most unlikely to hire? Rose

Dear Rose,
It is important that I clarify that hiring is a process and the final decision on who is hired is not the decision of the Human Resource (HR) manager. It is the senior manager of the department in which a vacancy exists, that will make the final decision of who is hired and who is not. When hiring a selection criteria is developed by the hiring department. This criteria will include a combination of factors such as qualification, experience, technical and behaviour competencies.

These criteria are them used to screen applications and will result in a short list. As I shared in my column last week having the qualifications alone is not enough, applicants must also have the relevant work experience. In order to fully benefit and gain mileage from your credentials, you must be able to validate that you can apply your acquired academic knowledge in the world of work. If you do not have the qualifications and relevant experience you will not be hired.
Other factors that are taken into consideration while hiring include, depth of preparation the applicant has undertaken before applying for the role, basically research of the role and the organisation. This is reflected in the quality of the candidate’s responses and how they are able to link their knowledge and experience with the role they are applying for.
So hiring is based on a candidate meeting a variety of selection criteria. If you do not meet all the criteria and pass the various assessments then you will not be hired.
