Is looking for work abroad a good idea?

My name is Pauline, a university graduate. I have looked for employment in Uganda for the last three years but in vain. I am now considering searching for work abroad. Is it a good idea?
Pauline

Dear Pauline,
In the yesteryears, finding employment was not a question for many graduates in Uganda. After all, they were fewer graduates and systems for employment were much clearer. Today, the situation is different for many graduates. In fact, a university degree is no longer a pass for direct employment. This explains the increasing number of jobseekers in the country every year. Therefore, seeking to work abroad is not a bad idea. It can offer many opportunities that you probably will not get back home. There is also an issue of culture diversity, where you get to work and learn from people of different races- understand their work traits and how they value work. Working abroad is usually based on a target where you save to invest back home.
The challenge, however, is about finding the right recruiting agencies. Many labour companies often advertise aggressively; giving many seekers new hope for better employment overseas. Many seem to have genuine offers and will seek applicants only to be let down with the would-be hirers across the border. There have been many cases of breach of contracts where successful applicants are given different chores contrary to what they were hired for. And there are those that are deceitful.
Therefore, before settling for any external offers, which are often juicy, it is important that you explore the authenticity of the recruiting agency. You can consult successful external workers and relevant authorities.
