Spreading fear throughout the Third Reich

There is something beautiful about movies; some love them for the great stories told, others as an entertainment treat, whereas others recommend titles to friends for the good life lessons imbedded within. I love movies for these reasons - good character portrayal, directing and a catchy storyline.

I take interest in appreciating the acting and the behind-the-scenes stars, who are the directors and producers. Over time and having watched a few works of Quentin Tarantino, he has got me thinking that he is either too good a director or perhaps has something evil about him, given the gross violence and blood in his movies.

Inglorious Basterds is no exception and in the movie, Tarantino portrays Brad Pitt as a lead killer whose group, the Inglorious Basterds, kill Germans in a very brutal manner, cutting the skin at the temple of their heads and removing the scalp.

Pitt is Lieutenant Aldo Raine, a heavily-accented, vengeance-driven warlord of sorts. You will love his moustache. The movie setting is during the World War times, and the plot is woven around the Nazi-occupied France.

The film also offers a version on the surrounding mystery under which Adolf Hitler was killed.
Its biggest flaw, though, for those who care about such things, may be its moral attitude. It is not the kind of movie you’d be comfortable watching with your little brother or sister given its gross violence and crude language.

There are striking portrayals of costumes to fit the mid-1940s. At the peak of the war, “The Basterds� go around extending terror throughout the “Third Reich�- qualifying Tarantino’s blend of unrestrained thrill, brutality and sadism.

And that’s not to say it’s just about the bloodshed; you’ll be tickled by some great humour to lighten up things even in moments of high tension - following in the tradition of Tarantino’s classics like Kill Bill 1 & 2, Grind House, Death Proof, Pulp Fiction, and The Rock among others.
